Saramugo guardians - Stewardship Network for the conservation of saramugo (Anaecypris hispanica) in Portugal.
The Stewardship Network for the conservation of Saramugo (Anaecypris hispanica) in Portugal intends to involve in the conservation of this species and its habitat all individuals and entities with intervention, directly or indirectly, in the area of distribution of saramugo, particularly that included in the Sites of Community Importance (SIC) of São Mamede, Moura / Barrancos and Guadiana.
This initiative aims to include all individuals and entities involved in the distribution area of saramugo, and others, in the conservation of this threatened fish and its habitat, gathering and recognizing all those interested in deepening their knowledge about saramugo and who wish to contribute for its preservation, enjoying and enhancing its presence in the territory.
This network will provide the stakeholders with tools to make their activities compatible with the conservation of this small cyprinid, creating a communication platform to promote the conservation of the species and its habitat during and after the end of the project.
