During a visit to national projects financed by this European financial instrument, which supports environmental and nature conservation projects, LIFE Saramugo Project received a delegation from the European Commission's LIFE Program for two days.
The first day was dedicated to the technical component and progress of the project and was attended by all the beneficiaries of LIFE Saramugo (LPN, ICNF, UÉvora and Aqualogus), and a detailed presentation of the actions and work already carried out was made.
On the second day, a field visit to the Vascão river was conducted at the Guadiana Site of Community Importance (SCI). It was possible to show some of the measures of habitat management already implemented in the field, namely, the silt removal of Cerro das Relíquias, which took place in October 2016. The future leisure area of Moinho das Relíquias, near Vascão river , which results from a partnership between LIFE Saramugo and the Union of Parishes of São Miguel do Pinheiro, São Pedro de Sólis and São Sebastião dos Carros.
As a whole, the visit allowed for the exchange of information on the various matters, and the Monitoring Committee transmitted some essential guidelines for the success of the Project's objectives.
