The municipality of Moura is one of the most important places in Portugal for the conservation of saramugo and the Iberian imperial eagle. In it are two of the streams (Murtigão and Safareja) where saramugos are still present and where the eagle can be found nesting, so a number of habitat management and environmental education and awareness raising activities have been developed in the region targeting children.
With the support of the Safara and Santo Aleixo da Restauração parish union, guardian of both species, it was possible to carry out the installation of two informative panels that make known both species, their main threats, the intervention area of each project and alert to the importance of its preservation.
More than 20 inhabitants attended the installation of the panels and read firsthand the information regarding both projects.
LPN, through the teams of LIFE Saramugo and LIFE Imperial, appreciates the support of the Union of Parishes in the installation of these panels in Safara, enabling the dissemination of information about two of the most endangered species in Portugal.
