LIFE Saramugo Project was present at the VI Iberian Ichthyology Congress, held from June 21 to 24 in Murcia. The conference, organized by SIBIC (Iberian Society of Ichthyology), has as main objective: to promote the study and conservation of fish native to the continental and marine aquatic ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula.
Representing the project LIFE Saramugo, was the Project Coordinator, disclosing the project by presenting a poster entitled "LIFE Saramugo - Conservation of the Saramugo (Anaecypris hispanica) in the Guadiana River Basin (Portugal)". In general it described the saramugo, its habitat, its main threats and the Conservation Actions that the LIFE Saramugo Project intends to implement in Portugal.
In addition to the presentation of the poster, it was also possible to participate in a special session on "LIFE and Fish Projects" where it was possible to exchange ideas and knowledge related to LIFE projects focused on fish, namely: the main objectives, organization and implementation difficulties as well as the future challenges. You can access the summary of this special session here.
This type of meeting is fundamental for the exchange of knowledge and experiences with other projects that work with similar themes and also to broaden the network of work contacts.
