LPN creates Stewardship Networks for species and habitats.

The Nature Custody is used worldwide as a tool that engages citizens in the conservation and management of nature and biodiversity through active participation to assist the conservation of species and habitats of high natural value. At its core is the principle of co-responsibility in the management of resources and natural values, with actions such as "caring", "respect", "sharing", "involvement" and "commitment".

In this context, LPN is promoting the creation of three Stewardship Networks directed to the conservation of saramugo, temporary mediterranean ponds and the Iberian-imperial eagle. These initiatives come under the three LIFE projects currently undergoing (co-financed by the European Commission's LIFE program), namely LIFE Saramugo, LIFE Charcos and LIFE Imperial.

The natural values to be guarded in the framework of these projects are the "Critically Endangered" saramugo, the Iberian-imperial-eagle, also "Critically Endangered", and temporary mediterranean ponds, a habitat classified as a priority by the Habitats European Directive. which hosts rare plants, threatened amphibians, reptiles, micromammals and crustaceans large endemic glandopods of Portugal.

These Stewardship Networks intend to involve in the conservation of species and habitats all citizens, owners and managers of agriculture, forestry and gaming areas, and entities, including companies, schools and universities, municipalities and governmental and non-governmental organizations. The members of these networks can collaborate in different ways, the type of involvement being adapted to the mission and interests of the adhering member. Direct collaboration in specific actions of LIFE Projects, volunteering, distribution of publicity material, promotion in social networks, provision of resources and support to the organization of events are some examples of participation in the scope of Stewardship Networks.

With the creation of these Stewardship Networks, the conservation of nature will have instruments of action that favor a proactive involvement of all civil society.
