Mértola City Council joined the Stewardship Networks promoted by the LIFE Projects and became guardian of the Saramugo and Imperial Eagle.

The play "A Grande Aventura dos Pequenos Saramugos" allowed for the consolidation of knowledge and also the presentation of the saramugo, its main threats and its habitat to many children in the LIFE Saramugo Project intervention area.

An international symposium brought together a large group of scientists, students, policy makers and other stakeholders involved in freshwater fish conservation and habitat rehabilitation.
