Description: Body high and compressed laterally, covered by large scales. The mouth is small and the jaws do not extend beyond the anterior edge of the eye. The dorsal fin is quite long reaching 2/3 of the total length. The caudal fin is round.
Breeding season: April-June.
Diet: Omnivorous with a carnivorous tendency.
