This Action aims to reduce and/or avoid the negative impact of exotic fish species on native species, namely on the saramugo.
The control of exotic species will take place essentially through their capture, using seines and electric fishing, and subsequent triage of individuals in order to ensure native species are returned to the water.
It is predicted that 90 annual removal actions will take place during a 3-month period between July and October.
The exotic species specimens will be taken to laboratories for complementary analyses or will be used for feeding other animals in rehabilitation centres.
