The implementation of a barrier to the advancement of common bleak is extremely important given its potential to negatively affect saramugo and other small native cyprinids, either through predation, competition, or hybridization.
In this Action, a barrier (physical, electrical or chemical) to the advancement of the common bleak will be installed as a demonstration. The barrier should be effective in blocking the passage of exotic invasive species upstream, namely those that have strong potential to negatively affect the saramugo and other small native cyprinids.
This way it is possible to avoid that an important hydric network for the saramugo, where no invasive species are present, is invaded in the near future, endangering the remaining populations of the saramugo.
